The Jaipur to Udaipur Drive: What to Expect

The Jaipur–Udaipur stretch runs about 390 km and takes six to seven hours depending on where you stop. Break the drive at Ajmer for a mid-morning halt, then again near Chittorgarh if you have an extra hour — the fort is worth it even from the outside.

The highway itself is in good shape for most of the route, with a few slower village stretches near Bhilwara. Keep a buffer of thirty to forty minutes for those.

If you're doing this as a day trip, leave by 6 AM. Leaving later means arriving in Udaipur after dark, which is manageable but not the introduction the city deserves.
